About ECD Systems
Protecting Arizona institutions and businesses since 1985, ECD Systems has become the preferred technology partner for hundreds of Arizona institutions and businesses. To support our efforts, we have established partnerships with industry-leading manufacturers and suppliers, creating the flexibility to provide innovative solutions that are state-of-the-art, customized and scalable.  Specializing in Notifier Fire Alarm and BDA Systems, Rauland Acute Care and Education Technologies, Lenel Access Control and Avigilon Surveillance Systems, at ECD Systems “We do what we say we’re going to do, when we say we’re going to do it – period.

Reason for joining Safer Buildings Coalition
ECD Systems recognizes Safer Buildings Coalition as an industry leading voice and influencer. We see ourselves in the same way in our local market and it was an easy decision to align ourselves in support of the SBC.  ECD is already a PSA Security owner, a member of PASS (Partner Alliance for Safer Schools), a member of the NSCA (National System Contractors Association) and participant in the annual NSCA Business Leadership Conference.  As an award-winning Notifier Dealer ECD Systems embraced BDA in its early stages and has been a leader in bringing quality UL Listed systems to our markets.  Our direct alignment with local Police and Fire services led us to be a strong advocate for reliable emergency communications and we are proud to now be aligned with the SBC to further grow and lobby for excellence in this fast-growing industry.

About the Fire Science Institute at John Jay College of Criminal Justice
Fire Science Institute at John Jay College of Criminal Justice is a certification program where we train high-rise building Fire/Life Safety Directors (FLSD). The candidate must pass a 3-phase training program: 1st take a 31-hour training course on Fire and All-Hazard (non-fire) emergencies at the Institute; 2nd take an on-line computer examination at the Fire Headquarters and finally pass a Fire Dept. on-site examination on your building’s Fire Command Center operational skills, and knowledge of the building systems, means of egress and fire protection systems. Once all three successfully completed, the candidate is issued a Fire Dept. Certificate of Fitness license.

Jack J. Murphy, Fire Marshal (Ret.)/ Fmr. Deputy Chief

Adjunct Professor JJ College/Fire Science Institute

As an Adjunct Professor saw an opportunity to join the Safer Buildings Coalition and provide the students a network to get better insight on First Responder radio communication (Wi-Fi, bi-directional) system capabilities and emergency messaging for high-rise building occupants.  With an enhanced in-building radio communication system, the Incident Commander (IC) and firefighters will be able to better communicate fireground operations from the Lobby Command Post to an upper floor level Operations (Ops) Sector. These seamless communique’ transmissions are key in providing the IC & Ops Sectors with critical building intelligence to mitigate an emergency event.
